Yellows is a particularly important piece right now, as I’ve become interested in the organization of very different, even totally opposed, musical sequences, cheek by jowl in a single composition. Nonetheless, I’m starting from the premise that they will constitute a uniform whole.
(Besides, I’m more and more interested in concrete sounds, in technology and recorded music, in Monteverdi’s stile concitato, in the atmospheres that can give rise to a sound, in musical timbres, and in the psychology of listening. I’m also studying combinations of music and movement, literary associations, colors and lights, the total work of art, the meticulous construction of acoustics, the Greek language, and even phonetics.
